Is it already that time again? The business I work for does a mailing every year for a local college and it’s a pretty big job. We usually get it out in about two days but it takes almost a solid 24 hours of running 4 HP Laserjet 9000 printers just to get it printed and then it has to be folded, stuffed and mailed. It’s a pretty impressive feat for a small mailing firm like ours. In the three years that I’ve worked it, it’s gotten more and more efficient and streamlined. This year, we’re estimating a time frame of about 21 hours to have all 300,000+ pieces printed. It’ll be a long day (I have to be at work at 3:45 AM) but it always feels like an accomplishment when it’s done. :]

I’ve been wanting to post this for quite some time now.  Seth made me an animated avatar for our Actioncorp geek site.  I think it’s very good and want to have it preserved somewhere other then AC.  So here it is.

Seth, can you maybe post a comment about the methods you used to make it?

Lunch time. Wow, isn’t that interesting? Well, much like my friend Seth, I have not been posting much for the last two weeks because I didn’t feel there was much of interest to post about. I guess that’s not really the point of a blog though is it. So here’s a little update to get things rollin’ again.

It’s still too cold here for there to be any birds on my feeder so there probably won’t be any action on the webcam for another month or so. What else… I got a second DVR added to my cable setup at home. We’ve had a Tivo in our bedroom for a few years but have really liked the dual-tuner HD capabilies that our Insight cable DVR has in the living room. So we finally ditched the Tivo (sad, I know) and added another dual-tuner HD DVR in it’s place. I’ll miss the Tivo interface as I do think it’s the best DVR menuing and recording interface available. We just weren’t ready to pay $300 for the HD version of the Tivo.

I turned 32 today. That’s right. I’ve been on this planet for 32 years now. I remember when I was a kid, thinking that I’d never make it past 21. But the time just keeps floating by. Don’t get me wrong. I like my age. It just seems weird sometimes. :]

The new year came in pretty quiet for me. Work has slowed down and I’m enjoying a bit of a warm up here in Indiana. I’ve set my webcam back up (look over there on the right) so hopefully there will be some decent captures from time to time. The camera is located on the window ledge in my home computer room. There’s a bird feeder right on the other side of the window and it’s very interesting to see how the birds look in while they nab some seed. The cam is set to snag a picture when there is significant motion so as not to show a bunch of the same thing all day long (hopefully). You can see some of the better past captures in my Flickr photo gallery. I’ll also be posting a webcam archive page and maybe a more live motion type of feed in the next few days, so check back soon.
